Biography
---------- Base Lore ----------

Mason Lucky was born on September 12, 1966, on the outskirts of Fort Worth, Texas.

Mason is a white male, 6'4" tall and weighing 182 pounds. He has long, flowy brown hair, dark blue eyes, and is known for maintaining a thick, masculine mustache that he takes great pride in.

At age 13, Mason suffered from appendicitis. His father, Lin Lucky, refused to take him to the hospital, telling him, “Stop crying like a little girl. You’re a boy, behave like one.” The moment left a lasting emotional scar on Mason. From that point on, he became deeply fixated on presenting himself as masculine, eventually developing an almost obsessive pride in maintaining a strong, traditional mustache as a symbol of toughness and manhood.

Mason later collapsed on his way home from school and was found by an elderly woman, who called an ambulance. He was taken to the hospital by Fort Worth EMS. To avoid authorities questioning the situation, Lin moved the family to Kentucky.

After the move, Mason began training to become an EMT. Shortly after completing his certification, he joined the Meade County Volunteer Fire Department, where he quickly rose through the ranks. In 1985, when Mason was 19, he broke his leg in the garage of the station while working on an apparatus. The accident caused an open fracture that left a permanent scar and led him to distrust large companies and their product safety practices, believing they often cut corners.

At 21, Mason completed his paramedic certification and was appointed Assistant Chief of the department. Shortly afterward, he attended the Frankfort School of Medicine to pursue a doctorate in medicine, specializing in emergency care. As an apology for ignoring Mason’s appendicitis years earlier, Lin secretly paid the school millions of dollars to validate Mason’s degree, making him a doctor in 1989. Mason was disgusted by the act but never confronted his father about it. Despite everything, he still loved him deeply.

Soon after, the KFA appointed Mason as chief following the death of the previous chief, who passed away from a heart attack at the age of 74, leaving a temporary power vacuum in the department.

Today, Mason lives in the town of Buffalo Hill in Meade County, Kentucky, with his family.

Mason earned his nickname "Butterfield" after a school rumor of him eating sticks of butter in a field behind his house was shared across the town.
